San Diego Dance Events

May 2016

May 5, 6, 7 and 8 --- Gator By The Bay

This is our big project for the month of May for the Bon Temps Social Club. Actually it is a year in the planning, and involves hundreds of volunteers. The event draws 20,000 each year, and offers the dancer five music stages from which to choose, with two main stages offering 3,000 sq. ft. tented dance floors at each. The event is situated on mile-long Spanish Landing Park on San Diego Bay directly across the street from San Diego Lindbergh International Airport. The weather in San Diego is particularly nice in May with temps at the bay around 75 degrees, but bring a jacket because when the sun goes down it gets a bit chilly. This is a four-day event which kicks off on Thursday May 5 and concludes on Mother’s Day, May 8.

David Souza and the Zydeco Mudbugs --- Since 1998, the Zydeco Mudbugs have been bringing the heat of Louisiana Zydeco music to the festivals, dance halls, clubs and parties all over So Cal and beyond. They play authentic Zydeco using the Cajun single row and triple row diatonic accordions, and perform songs in Louisiana French and English. The band performs classic zydeco music from Boozoo Chavis, Clifton Chenier, Beau Jocque and Keith Frank. It's all danceable, so come on out and pass a good time with the Zydeco Mudbugs.
