He thoroughly captivated dancers with his driving accordion\, creative showmanship and sweet\, sultry voice.\n\nOh\, no! You missed that?!Well\, your second chance is coming right up.\n\nRuben returns to San Diego for a special evening of Houston born\, Bay area refined zydeco music on November 9. Don’t miss Ruben’s uniquely Latino and R&B influenced zydeco! A child prodigy\, he learned to play percussion by 8 years old and the accordion by the age of 11.\n\nOver the past two decades\, he has set the world on fire with his melodic voice and his skills as one of the world’s greatest washboard players. Having toured all over North America\, Central America\, and Europe\, he is a dynamic steward of this generation of Zydeco musicians. He has worked with such greats as Grammy Nominated Zydeco artist and crowned Prince of Zydeco C.J. Chenier\, Andre Thierry\, the Ambassador of Zydeco\, the legend Buckwheat Zydeco\, and Leroy Thomas along with many others from past and current generations in the Zydeco community. Bruce never uses a “set list.” Instead\, he maintains a floating repertoire of more than two hundred songs\, from the traditional Cajun waltzes and two-steps to those of his own creation\, to ancient fiddle reels\, deep blues\, swamp pop\, Zydeco and R&B. DESCRIPTION:April’s Second Saturday Dance will feature some of the great talent to be showcased at San Diego’s premier festival\, Gator by the Bay (it’s only 45 days away)!  April 14th at the War Memorial Building\, Balboa Park\, we will be dancing to these bands\, live and in person:\n \nThe Stilettos\nSue Palmer with Mercedes Moore\nBilly Lee & the Swamp Critters\nHigh Life Cajun Band \nTheo Bellow and Zydeco Patrol\n \nWe will have some surprise announcements for you as the event gets nearer so stay tuned!  Doors open at 6 pm; lesson at 6:20 pm and LIVE music from 7 pm ’til we’re done!  $10 cover.\n_______________________________\nMonthly dances of the Bon Temps Social Club feature Louisiana-style live music with a dance lesson for beginners before the dance. April’s Second Saturday dance will be held at the War Memorial Building in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park. The free-with-admission dance lesson begins at 6:20 p.m.\, and the open dancing to live music is 7:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The philosophy of the club is “If you’re smiling you’re doing it right” — which is another way of saying everyone at any age or skill level is welcome at our dances. \nWe certainly hope you will choose to join us at one of our dances\, and discover for yourself how much fun dancing to Louisiana-style music can be. The cost of attending our monthly dances is $10. (By the way\, if you’ve never been to one of our dances before\, your admission to your first dance is just $5.)
