SUMMARY:BTSC 2nd Saturday January Dance featuring Mitch Polzak & The Royal Deuces!
DESCRIPTION:Mitch Polzak & The Royal Deuces!\nSaturday\, January 11\, 2025\nWar Memorial Building\, Balboa Park\n3325 Zoo Drive\, San Diego\n$15 \n6:30PM – Free dance lesson\n7:00-9:30PM – Band plays \nThe Bon Temps Social Club is very excited to bring Mitch back to San Diego (perhaps you have enjoyed him at Gator by the Bay)\, to the War Memorial which boasts a large and beautiful wooden dance floor. \nThe big guy from out West and larger than life energy (he’s also 6’5’) is a performer\, guitarist\, singer\, banjoist\, songwriter\, composer\, entertainer\, musical historian and teacher; Mitch Polzak wears his heart on his sleeve and his playing in his heart. \nThere is not one singular definition of Polzak’s music but that is very specific to what he does. Being fluent in the musical languages of Country\, Rockabilly\, Honky Tonk\, The Bakersfield Sound\, Surf\, early Rock and Roll\, Bluegrass\, Cajun\, Blues\, and Truck Driving music gives Polzak the unique voice of the melting pot of the American musical experience. This is why he consistently connects with so many people directly at every show and “reads the audience” for the music he brings each performance. \nPolzak learned firsthand from some of his musical influences\, sharing the stage with legends like Don Maddox of The Maddox Bros. and Rose\, deeply respected contemporary and friend Deke Dickerson\, The Ragin’ Cajun Doug Kershaw\, Rockabilly icons Joe Clay and Gene Summers\, former Bluegrass Boy and West Coast music pioneer Peter Rowan and Cajun greats Jimmy Breaux\, Andrew Carriere\, and Blake Miller. He has also shared the bill with Brian Setzer\, Jerry Lee Lewis\, Duane Eddy\, The Stray Cats\, Big Sandy and The Fly Rite Boys\, and Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives. \nHope to see you there!!

SUMMARY:Bruce Daigrepont Cajun Band
DESCRIPTION:Come out and dance to the Bruce Daigrepont Cajun Band at the beautiful Balboa Park Club! \nWhat makes Bruce Daigrepont’s live performances so special is the air of freewheeling spontaneity which prevails over everything that happens. Bruce never uses a “set list.” Instead\, he maintains a floating repertoire of more than two hundred songs\, from the traditional Cajun waltzes and two-steps to those of his own creation\, to ancient fiddle reels\, deep blues\, swamp pop\, Zydeco and R&B. On stage\, he is free to shuffle these songs around at will. Or\, as Bruce so aptly puts it\, “I just play whatever song starts to come out of my fingers\,” while the band hangs on for dear life. Consequently\, no two Bruce Daigrepont concerts are ever the same. It’s and exhilarating experience\, for audiences and band members alike.  www.brucedaigrepont.org/ \nEnjoy the expansive dance floor and big beautiful room at the Balboa Park Club. \nSaturday September 3rd; Lesson:  5:20 – 6 p.m.; Band:  6 – 9:30 p.m.; $12 cover at the door

SUMMARY:Saturday Night Dance - July 9
DESCRIPTION:Pappion\, Plauche and Pennison\nCajun Creole Music\nMonthly dances of the Bon Temps Social Club feature Louisiana-style live music with a dance lesson for beginners before the dance. \nPappion\, Plauché and Pennison are carrying on the Creole tradition of passing the music from one generation to the next. The band is born out the family and personal connections between Creole legends and is an embodiment of Louisiana natives reflecting and preserving their culture in their new California home. Dempsey Pappion\, on accordion and washboard and Guy Martin Plauché\, on fiddle bring their creole traditions from Lake Charles and Avoyelles parishes respectively. Come experience the living history of creole music tradition! \nThe free-with-admission dance lesson begins at 6:20 p.m.\, and the open dancing to live music is 7:00 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. The philosophy of the club is “If you’re smiling you’re doing it right” — which is another way of saying everyone at any age or skill level is welcome at our dances. \nWe certainly hope you will choose to join us at one of our dances\, and discover for yourself how much fun dancing to Louisiana-style music can be. \nWar Memorial Building\n3325 Zoo Drive\nSan Diego\, CA 92101 \n6:20pm Lesson\n7:00pm Dance till 9:15pm \nCost: $10 \nBon Temps Facebook page…\nhttps://www.facebook.com/Bon-Temps-Social-Club-208816275875982/ \nCome Pass a Good Time 🙂

SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Dance June 11
DESCRIPTION:Mark St. Mary’s Louisiana Blues & Zydeco Band is playing our June 2nd Saturday dance on June 11th at the War Memorial Bldg in Balboa Park. Mark St. Mary’s 5 member band plays traditional Louisiana blues and zydeco music. Dubbed the “Delta King” and awarded the “Best Zydeco Band” in 2007 by Bay Area Blues Society\, Mark’s been playing his traditional style of zydeco music since the age of 13. His music is best described as infectious – once the band starts playing\, the crowd doesn’t want him to stop\, yelling “Play One More” over and over! Mark sings in both English & Creole French. “We pride ourselves in being able to give the crowd a variety\, zydeco\, blues\, R&B and even a lil’ country.” \nComplimentary Dance Lesson at 6:20 – 7 pm; Band starts at 7 pm. \nMark St. Mary’s Louisiana Blues & Zydeco Band Website
